Want to maintain a harmonious relationship with your partner? Make sure you get enough sleep at night.

Arguments with your partner can make it difficult closing his eyes. Lack of sleep can shake the marriage relationship. Recent studies at SLEEP 2011 conference in Minneapolis, found that wives who have trouble sleeping, more likely to report negative interactions with a partner on the next day. Husband also affected and assess the interaction with a partner becomes less positive.

"I think it's not too surprising. I think we've experienced it myself," said Lauren Hale, Ph.. D., sleep expert and professor of preventive medicine at Stony Brook School of Medicine, New York, report by webmd.com.

"Most of us realize the opposite. If you really lack of rest, you can be very nasty to people."

"Sleep duration was shorter does not necessarily mean poor sleep quality. A couple with a more positive interactions throughout the day may be seen in other activities in bed at night," said Wendy Troxel, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Researchers recruited 35 married couples and asked them to wear sensors that monitor the movement for 10 nights. The average age of participants was 32 years old. During the day, the couple was asked to write a diary detailing how they get along.

The points are assessed as how strongly they feel positive things, such as feeling close and valued partner, and talk about their feelings with a partner. Negative, how many feel criticized, rejected, neglected, or involved an argument.

When women have trouble sleeping at night, they are more likely to report fewer negative interactions and positive interaction with a partner the next day and vice versa.

"Women are more sensitive to the relationship and they are more communicative when feeling stressed. So, sleep problems affect women's self and partner on the next day, maybe say something about the expression of women. While men tend to suppress or withhold negative emotions,''explained Troxel.
